Amazon and Google provide cloud computing services to the Israeli military through Project Nimbus, a multi-million dollar contract that is central to the Israel Defense Forces as they commit genocide in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Israel is moving towards the removal of Palestinians from all of Gaza. ICE cannot wage its war against immigrants without the critical infrastructure support provided by tech corporations like Amazon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two specific services that Amazon provides to ICE: the sale of facial recognition software to law enforcement (marketed as Amazon Web Services Recognition), and the sale of AWS cloud services to Palantir (a data analytics firm that provides \u201cmission critical\u201d software to ICE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amazon\u2019s Recognition software was the beginning of automated mass surveillance in America. There are more than 30 Amazon warehouses in Maryland alone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While tripling profits in early 2024, Amazon surveils and pressures drivers and warehouse workers to extract as much of their labor as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a result, Amazon\u2019s worker injury rate is twice as high as similar companies, and the company has racked up more than US$250 million in fines for privacy, occupational health and safety, wage, and environmental violation cases filed by workers across sectors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When its workers organize to defend themselves, Amazon plays dirty:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014They refuse to recognize the Amazon Labor Union in Staten Island, NY that has been waiting to bargain for warehouse workers since 2022,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2014And they cancel Amazon drivers\u2019 contracts like in Glendale, California in 2023 rather than recognize them as employees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211;Amazon warehouse workers at the DMD9 delivery station in Upper Marlboro, MD were terminated for their roles in collecting signatures for two petitions and encouraging others to participate in a walkout&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8211;Amazon drivers in Maryland walked off the job March 16, 2024 to demand a $3\/hour wage increase, meanwhile Amazon pays tens of millions of dollars on anti-union consultants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
